The 2017 Jeep® Grand Cherokee is off to a great start. It is only February, and the Jeep SUV already has an award under its belt. Antioch Chrysler Jeep Dodge is excited to announce that auto magazine Four Wheeler has named it the 2017 SUV of the Year!

More specifically, it was the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk® that earned the honors. This is a huge distinction considering the rigorous trials every SUV model is subjected to when determining a winner. A panel of judges grades the vehicles according to a number of tests that consist of over 1,000 miles of driving under formidable terrain and elevations as high as 9,000-feet. Various components were tested and graded, including tire performance, suspension tuning, transmission function, and traction control function just to list a few. The grading also includes more obscure evaluations, such as ramp travel index, which measures suspension articulation.

It should also be noted that the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is Trail Rated®. This means it has been designed with off-road capability under even the most challenging road conditions. According to Four Wheeler spokesman Ken Brubaker, the SUV really stood out from its competition due to additions like the all-new Goodyear Adventure tires, redesigned underbody skid plates, and the Quadra-Lift® air suspension.

The rigorous test occurred over a period of five days and includes one day of highway driving, one day of track testing, and three days of off-road driving. The finals came down to the Jeep Grand Cherokee and a competing model. The former was declared the winner after winning four out of five evaluation categories.
