2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to Get New Air Intake System

To the excitement of Dodge car fans near the Pittsburg, CA area, FCA US LLC is about to introduce the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to the world. The muscle car will have multiple customizable features, the most notable of which is the option for a massive air intake system.

The engine will consist of the popular HEMIĀ® V8 engine that delivers a whopping 707 horsepower. The difference, though, lies in the bulging 45-inch hood scoop, named the Air Grabber. Interestingly, the hood scoop is strikingly similar to the one seen on a Dodge Challenger featured on the upcoming film Fate of the Furious, the latest installment of the Fast and Furious franchise.

There is also a monster-sized air box and what the automaker has dubbed "air catcher headlights" for the front lights. This allows for a significantly increased airflow while reducing air inlet temperatures. FCA US LLC has not released any information other than that the improved air inlet system will reduce engine temperatures by more than 30 degrees compared to the original Hellcat engine.

The rumor is that the Dodge Challenger Demon will deliver 757 hp, though some expect higher horses given the type of air intake system being used. FCA US LLC has also confirmed a few other tidbits of information. For starters, the car will be 200 pounds lighter than the regular Dodge Challenger Hellcat. A wide body kit will also be included, and it can be tuned for drag strip use.

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will make its debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show, scheduled for April. Until then, you can check out the current 2017 Dodge Challenger at Antioch Chrysler JeepĀ® Dodge.
